November 20, 2017, 7:00 pm “Create a Holiday Centerpiece” Vernon Garden Club members will lead a workshop on centerpiece design. Members will create a holiday centerpiece to take home. Bring a hollowed out pumpkin or another container….$5 fee for members/$10 for non-members.
December 11, 2017 (note, 2nd Monday of Dec), 6 pm “Holiday Pot-luck Supper” Time for your culinary talents to shine! Bring an appetizer, main dish, salad or dessert, ingredient list/recipe, grab bag ($7) gift and non-perishable food item, optional. No business meeting, just holiday fun!
January 15, 2018, 7:00 pm “The Flora and Fauna of Botswana” Sandy will share with us slides of her recent safari to Botswana. Stories of her adventures in this wonderful country.
February 19, 2018, 7:00 pm “Container Gardening and Panel Discussion” A short video about Container Gardening will be shown, followed by a discussion about tips, tricks, and experiences with containers. Bring questions and answers for discussion!

March 19, 2018, 7:00 pm “The Tankeroosen: Vernon’s Green Valley” Jon Roe, a local resident and genial historian/extraordinare, will give a power-point presentation of the local gems and hidden gardens in our area. A fieldtrip to follow, later in the spring.
April 16, 2018, 7:00 pm “Herbal Self-Defense” Master Gardener and community herbalist, Terri Cusson, president of the Connecticut Herb Association, is now teaching, gardening, and making herbal medicines. Her “hands on” presentation will familiarize us with several recipes for uses of herbs.
May 12, 2018, 8-10:30 am, Vernon Garden Club’s Annual Spring Plant Sale (pouring rain date, May 19, 2018) members are asked to bring 10 potted and clearly labeled choice perennials from their own gardens. Plants must be delivered between 7:00 and 7:45 am. Betty and Mary Ann will have more information as we get closer to time of sale.
May 21, 2018, 7:00 pm “Pocket Gardens” Garden enthusiast and educator, Barbara Austin, will construct a stone “Pocket Garden” with different types of plants as she gives us ideas about how to make beautiful gardens.
June 18, 2018, 6:00 pm “Annual Club Picnic and Installation of Officers” Our club picnic is the perfect opportunity to create garden friendships, sign up for next year’s committees and plan work in the garden. Bring a pot-luck entree or dessert and your membership dues for next year!
